Listen as Mark takes US Magazine’s Christina Garibaldi through his 2018 Oscar Cocktail Collection discussing the inspirations and themes behind his cinematic libations!
I look forward to the Oscars all year long! I am a big fan of Hollywood and international films so much so; I started a tradition almost 10 years ago of creating cocktails for all of the Best Picture nominated films.
As a mixologist, I find so much creative inspiration in films from something simple…
- Locations: “Dunkirk”
- A single phrase or word: “Get Out” & “Phantom Thread”
- Food or drinks: “Shape of Water” & “The Post”
- Characters: “Lady Bird” & “Darkest Hour”
- All of the above “Call Me By Your Name”
But every once in awhile, a film comes along where it becomes a real struggle to create a celebratory cocktail so I draw inspiration just from the name such as “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
Watch Mark demonstrate the Apricot Negroni for “Call Me by Your Name” and the Missouri Mule for “Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri”
Cheers to the Oscars!
